STUDENT UNDER 18 – GUARDIANSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Live in Australia with their parent or legal custodian (Option 1)
  • Live in Australia with a relative over 21 years of age appointed by student’s parent or legal custodian (Option 2)
  • Live in Australia under welfare arrangement approved by MEGA (Option 3)

OPTION 1:

  • If student’s parent or legal custodian is accompanying student during their study in Australia & wish to provide welfare arrangement to student:
  1. Indicated on MEGA Student Application Form at application stage
  2. Apply for Student Guardian visa

Please note: MEGA is not responsible for approving student’s welfare arrangement

OPTION 2:

  • If student’s parent or legal custodian wishes to appointed relative to be responsible for welfare arrangement of student:
  1. Appointed guardian must be over 21 years of age and living in Australia
  2. Appointed guardian must have Working with Children Check and Police Check
  3. Appointed guardian must apply for approval from Department of Home Affairs to be the eligible guardian of student

OPTION 3:

  • If student wishes to have guardianship arrangement approved by MEGA, student will need to follow:
  1. Go to http://www.studentguardians.com/
  2. Select “APPLY NOW” from menu selection
  3. Enter “EMAIL ADDRESS”
  4. Complete all required fields of personal details
  5. Enter course study with start date & finish date
    • If you are packaging to another school OR have more than 1 course, use “ADD COURSE” button
  6. Proposed invoice will be generated
  7. Click “SUBMIT APPLICATION” if all details are addressed accurately
  8. An invoice will be generated and sent to your personal email
  9. Check the invoice and arrange payment

In this instance, MEGA is responsible for approving student’s welfare arrangement and we will issue a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) letter to the student.
